Become a Member of South Church
Although there is no scriptural mandate for church membership, it is a way of officially identifying oneself with a local body of believers. Membership is a statement that a Christian is in agreement with that local church and is willing to be identified as a representative of it. It is also valuable for organizational purposes. Members of this church, while enjoying freedom of conscience, are expected to seek to know and to do God’s will as they can best determine it for their individual lives through the disciplines of prayer, study of scripture, and fellowship with other followers of Christ. Members are expected to participate regularly in the worship of God; to be involved in the organized activities of the church; to pray for its growth in faithfulness; and to contribute regularly to support the work of God through the Church’s ministries and benevolence programs. If you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and pledge your allegiance to His kingdom; if you profess the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments; and if you will, according to the grace given you, pledge your time, talents and treasure to this congregation of Christ’s holy church ask the Pastor about the next new member’s class and see if membership is for you.

Covenant Class
As we begin the new year it is time to once again to plan for Confirmation Class and this year we’re going to do something new. For a while now there has been repeated interest expressed for an “adult” confirmation class. In response we have developed a Covenant Class.
This class will meet three times between January and March 31st and conclude with a visit to Plimoth Plantation (
www.plimoth.org).
Our Confirmands are required to attend all three classes but this year anyone else who might be interested in learning more about our faith and congregational tradition is more than welcome as well. Come for one or for all three.
Prospective new members need to attend class three as this will double as the new members seminar. They are, however, welcome to attend all three as well and join us for our pilgrimage to Plimoth Plantation.
Trip to Plimoth Plantation:
March 24, 2012 (Leave SCC at 8 am and return approx. 5 pm)
So if you are a teen looking to complete Confirmation; an adult looking to join South Congregational Church, or simply interested in learning more about your faith and tradition see Jonathan Parker, Pastor Adam or call the church office at (860) 249-8627 or email:
